Agreement on reducing salt in food
Dutch health minister Edith Schippers has entered an agreement with manufacturers and caterers to reduce the amount of salt in food, AD reported on Friday.

Under the agreement, the amount of salt in food will be reduced from 9 grammes to a maximum of 6 grammes a day by 2020.
The Dutch consumers association Consumentenbond said that reducing the amount of salt will result in 2,200 fewer deaths per year.
More than 85% of the Dutch eat more salt than the recommended amount. And most salt comes from meat, dairy, bread, ready-made sauces and soups.
