University enrollment up nationwide
The number of first-year students at universities in the Netherlands has increased by 7% to more than 45,000 compared to 2012, according to higher education association VSNU.

In college, the number of new students has increased by 5.8%. More than 106,000 students have started a college study this year, Nos reported.
In total, more than 248,000 students enrolled at the 13 Dutch universities, up 3.5% compared to 2012. There are more than 440,000 bachelors.
There was a sharp increase in number of students in agriculture, technology and nature studies. However, the legal studies saw a decline in the number of students.
The number of foreign students at universities has increased by 5% to 11,000 students. Most come from Germany, followed by China, Greece and Britain.
