Man uses tiny crawl spaces to evade police
A 29-year-old man from Nijmegen built two hiding places in his home in Heseveld, just for when the police would come looking for him. He managed to dodge the police for 8 months, according to police reports, but could finally be arrested on Tuesday.
The suspect was trying to evade doing jail time for a total of 332 days or pay the fines of 59,000 euros in total.

The neighborhood officer found out that the suspect had built hiding places in his home. On Tuesday, January 14th the police were sure he was home, so they forced the door, determined they were not leaving without him. They came across two hiding places in the bedroom. The biggest one, 6.5 by 9.8ft, behind a hatchway in the floor, proved empty. Underneath a rug in the same bedroom, they found another hatchway, leading to a space of only 2.6 by 4.9ft in dimensions. That's where the officers finally found their search rewarded. The suspect was taken into custody.
