Suspected human smuggler arrested

Police have said that a man who was held Tuesday on suspicion of human trafficking will probably not be the last person who will be held as the investigations in this case continue. The 33-year-old man from Bussum was arrested during a joint Marechaussee/Police operation in Leuwarden. Suspicions are that he was involved in a European-wide people smuggling ring and probably in the issuing of false travel documents to aid the smuggle. During a search of his house in Leuwarden, police confiscated telephones and computers. The suspect will be led in front of a Judge of Instruction on Friday.
