Some 15,000 old people ineligible for nursing home

Some 15,000 are expected to be disqualified for nursing home due to new stricter standards, the AD reports on Tuesday. The new rules are part of the government plans to cut €3.5 billion from the long-term care budget, according to AD. Under the new rules became effective from Jan. 1, nursing homes will only allow old people having severe physical problems and in a need of serious care, the newspaper said. As a result of new rules, many nursing homes will close down.
