Designer Jan Taminiau received a Cultural Fashion Stipend in Amsterdam. The scholarship amounts to 50,000 euros and is intended for Dutch designers who designed at least fifteen collections.Queen Máxima regularly wears creations of Taminiau. Highlights were the royal blue dress and cape during the inauguration on April 30th.
On the cruise that evening she also wore a dress from the designer from Brabant, as well as on "Prinsjesdag" Singer, Lady Gaga, was also seen wearing a dress from Taminiau, and Beyoncé was wearing noteworthy shoes by the designer on the cover of one of her CD's.
It's the fourth time that the Culture Fashion Scholarship is awarded. An anonymous benefactor makes funds available. With the reward the Prins Bernhard Culture Fund aims to aid talented designers financially.
The award goes to a designer that excels in artistic quality and craftsmanship. In addition, the designer should be a standard-bearer for Dutch fashion, with an international fashion-DNA.
Last year the stipend went to the sisters Spijkers and Spijkers. Before that, Ilja Visser and Francisco Benthum were awarded the financial stimulus.
