60 percent of partying juveniles uses ecstasy
60 percent of young people between 20 and 24 who go out, used ecstasy at least once in the last year, according to new research from the Trimbos Institute. The frequent use of the drug is associated with the emergence of major festivals, attended by a broad audience, stated Ferry Goossens from the Trimbos research institute Monday in the TV program EénVandaag. The results support the idea that the use of ecstasy has become more common.

The users, surveyed, take hefty doses. 20 percent take 2.5 pill a night, which imposes major health risks, including blackouts and panic attacks. Some take place behind the wheel while under influence of drugs, according to Goossens.
Goossens advocates for better information around festivals, more first aid facilities, and better public transportation.
