Labour MP Lutz Jacobi Opposes F-35 Purchase

Labour MP Lutz Jacobi is opposing the government’s decision to purchase 37 F-35 Joint Strike Fighters (JSF).

Jacobi is concerned about noise pollution and the financial effects. She plans to vote against the proposal. According to Jacobi, JSF shouldn’t make more noise than the F-16, Volkskrant reports. Research shows that JSF is 23 decibels (dBA) louder. “We shouldn’t buy JSF if it makes too much noise.” Earlier November, the Labour Party said that it will support the government’s decision to purchase JSF. The contract for the purchase of fighter jets is expected to be signed in 2015.
