Schools get official Chinese test

High school students may take tests in Chinese in the future, decided State Secretary of Education, Sander Dekker. In 2010 nine schools started a pilot with Chinese lessons. The Ministry calls the trial a success. The Curriculum Development Foundation has recommended making Chinese an official final exam. Dekker adopts that recommendation. Chinese

Flickr At present, pupils can choose French or German as mandatory second foreign language in addition to English. Starting 2015 pre-university students can also learn Chinese, if their schools offer it. Schools will not be required to do so. So far, forty schools expressed their interest. For now Chinese will not be offered as a central exam, but a school exam.
