Au Pair Agencies Required to Pass IND Screenings
In the Netherlands, au pair agencies are required to pass the screening procedure of the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND). The new immigration law is putting pressure on au pair agencies.
The screening is part of Modern Migration Policy Act (MoMi) that is designed to stop au pairs being exploited and limit their stay to one year, according to a news report by the Volkskrant.
The newspaper reports that one third of au pair agencies have failed pass immigration service screenings. Currently, 23 of over 30 agencies have been approved in the Netherlands.
Au pairs earn between €300 and €340 per month. Every year, some 2,000 au pairs come to the Netherlands.
