Online Buying Groceries Doubles
The online sales of groceries in the Netherlands will be doubled by 2016. This is expected by the research group for food and consumer products IGD.
According to IGD the Dutch will spend 1.6 billion euro for buying groceries online in 2016. In 2012 the amount spent was 0.6 billion euro.
Besides the Netherlands the online sales of groceries will also double within three years in Germany, Switzerland, the UK and France. The British already spend 7.1 billion euro online and will spend about 13.7 billion euro in 2016. The French will spend in 2016 10.6 billion euro while they spend 5 billion euro per year now.
According to IGD, the online buying of groceries is rapidly changing in Europe. The technology is fundamentally changing the way people do their groceries.
