Media Storage Tax Extended Until 2016

The Dutch government has extended the levy on media storage devices for two years. The justice ministry announced that the levy, introduced at the beginning of this year, will be extended until Jan. 1, 2016, reports Telecompaper. The levy covers blank CDs and DVDs, as well as devices with storage capacity, such smartphones, tablets, PCs and DVD recorders. The collected amount is used to compensate copyright holders.
