Part embankment Utrecht collapsed

Part of the historic quay wall to the Weerdsingel in Utrecht has collapsed over about 20 meters, probably because a large tree on the quay was uprooted. The police closed the perimeter. Three more trees will be uprooted, because the quay slightly collapses further. Once the cleanup is completed, an emergency quay wall will be placed, according to the municipality. The bridge to the Nijntje square has become unstable and is closed for cyclists and pedestrians. The Utrecht alderman Mirjam de Rijk stopped by personally to observe the situation.
