Wikimedia commons On Sunday many reports came in from different parts of the country, but Goeree-Overflakkee was affected the most by the rains. Some places got more than 3.9" of rain, even more than the expected 3.2"or 3.5", according to the safety region Rotterdam Rijnmond. October doesn't usually see this much precipitation. In the villages Goedereede, Stellendam, and Melissant virtually all the streets were flooded Sunday afternoon. Residents were advised to bring their furniture to safety. There were a few hundred reports from people whose homes flooded. Two polders were arranged as water storage area. Monday is another rainy day in the western part of the country but with some 0.4" significantly less than Sunday. The forecast for this week predicts unstable weather, except for the dry Wednesday, but the most extreme weather is behind us, according to NOS weatherman Gerrit Hiemstra.
