Lansingerland angry about Fyra plan
The municipality Lansingerland has major objections to the alternative Fyra-plans of State Secretary Mansveld (PvdA).Alderman De Weger fears an increase in noise. Lansingerland, north of Rotterdam, is crossed by the high-speed line.
The number of trains on the HSL-South will increase by the end of this year. The NS plans to put older equipment into use on the route between Amsterdam and Brussels. These trains are significantly more noisy than the Fyra-train, that was intended to travel the HSL.

Wikimedia commons The maximum permissible sound level of 57 dB on average, will be significantly exceeded. This is already the case, as evidenced by tests from TNO. No new high-speed trains are ordered and thus no improvement is forthcoming, according to De Weger. Citizens from Lansingerland are also angry. They want the track covered in their town but that would cost an extra 50 million euros. State Secretary Mansveld expects the nuisance to be limited by placing rail dampers and says sound measurements are still being taken.
