Didam Explosion Kills Two People
In Didam, Gelderland, two people were killed following an explosion and the subsequent collapse of a house. This was reported by the Safety Region of North and East Gelderland. The house was a detached structure located outside the village, where a couple with two sons lived. The victims have not been identified, but they are believed to be the couple who occupied the house.
According to a cameraman of Omroep Gelderland, there was a thick plume of smoke on the spot and another eyewitness said the house was completely razed. It is still unclear how many people were present at the time of the explosion.
At the time of the fire, the sons were at soccer practice, as confirmed by the police. Earlier in the evening, residents reported that one person was found seriously injured and in hospital at Omroep Gelderland.
The explosion took place inside the house shortly after a fire broke out on Thursday night around 8:00 pm, said a spokesman. The explosion was followed by the collapse of the house.
