Netflix now also in The Netherlands
The U.S. video provider Netflix operates in the Netherlands as of today. Via the Internet service subscribers can view unlimited movies and series for a fee of 7.99 euros per month.A few months ago Netflix announced its arrival on the Dutch market. Netherlands is the seventh country in Europe where you can enjoy the Netflix services.
The company's management is in Amsterdam today to explain the launch. Worldwide Netflix has 37 million subscribers.
According to Netflix 70,000 Dutch have indicated they would be interested in becoming a subscriber as well. The collection consists of American and Dutch movies and series. Additionally Netflix offers popular series like ' The Killing', and the new Ricky Gervais-comedy, Derek. Netflix is only available on internet-connected devices.
Netflix is not unique. The Dutch Ximon offers a similar service. The organization was founded in 2011 by the Dutch Association of Film Producers, the EYE Film Institute and the Institute for Sound and Vision. More than 100,000 Dutch use Ximon. A subscription costs 9.50 a month. The cinema chain Pathé and the movie rental service Videoland have apps to watch movies on smart-TV's. Apple TV, where you can buy Netflix videos and iTunes movies, also gains popularity.
The difference with Netflix is that with these services you pay per video fragment instead of monthly.
