Samsom Divorces

Labour leader Diederik Samsom is going to divorce. He confirmed this to NRC Handelsblad. "Unfortunately, life is not always as expected. This is a very profound and sad turn of events, " said Samson. Samsom involved his family emphatically in his political career. In interviews he often talked about his two children, who are an important source of inspiration for him. His wife figured with his children in a campaign commercial for the parliamentary elections. In an interview with the Volkskrant in March 2012, when he had just taken over the party leadership of Job Cohen, Samson said about his family: "They are part of who I am. During this time people vote not just a politician because of his ideas. The voter wants to know who that man is."
