The Police Reports
The police been has been very busy again this weekend with accidents, stabbings and shootings. Here is an overview.
Crime
On Sunday, the police of The Hague arrested three men and a woman in connection with the discovery of a dead man early Sunday morning. The body was laying in the courtyard of an apartment complex in the Schilderswijk, the Hague.
Police suspect that the man was killed. The identity of the victim is not yet known.
What has happened in the courtyard is not yet clear. According to Omroep West, the police went into the complex with a battering ram. The three men and a woman were taken out handcuffed.
Forensic investigators are conducting an investigation in and around the apartment complex. Witnesses have stated, to Omroep West, that the man was thrown down.
On Saturday, the police have arrested a 30-year-old citizen of Zaandam. He is suspected of killing a 51-year-old man from the same town.
The circumstances of the alleged offense, which took place in the home of the victim at the Reisschaaf in Zaandam, are not yet known.
Local residents called police Saturday morning stating that the man had become unwell, reports the Noordhollands Dagblad. An attempt to resuscitate the victim was to no avail.
In and around the house all day investigated, including by employees of Dutch Forensic Institute (NFI). The house was shielded with large screens. Local residents talk about a shooting.
The 30-year-old suspect is according to a police spokesman in detention.
On Saturday afternoon, in Den Bosch, a confused 52-year-old man was arrested because he put two guns at the head of a police officer. He then pulled the trigger of the guns, which later turned out to be unloaded and unserviceable, reported the police on Sunday.
The policemen were alarmed about a neighbors quarrel, and found upon arrival the man standing in the open door with two firearms. The police ordered the man to hand over the weapons. When the officers entered the house they saw also some rifles and a knife. Again they asked to hand over the weapons. The man suddenly came out and 'shot' on the head of a police officer. His colleagues worked the man from Den Bosch to the ground.
The man was taken to the office and put in jail
A 30-year-old man from Heusden was seriously injured in the night from Saturday to Sunday. This happened by a stabbing at the Herptseweg in his Heusden. The man would have been arguing with a group of people, when he was stabbed in his back. His 32-year-old girlfriend, who had tried to appease the lot, also got injured.
That was reported by the police on Sunday.
When the police arrived at the spot, the group already disappeared. Police are looking for the perpetrator and the weapon.
The Heusdenaar is in critical condition at the intensive care. His girlfriend was also taken to the hospital.
During a shooting in Amsterdam, on Friday night, a man was seriously injured. The incident happened at the Antwerpenbaan in Nieuw Sloten. This is confirmed by the police.
During the shooting, people heard frequently shots. A man was severely wounded. There were two men involved in the incident. They fled in a car at high speed.
After the shooting, the police immediately launched a major search for the perpetrators. There was also a helicopter deployed. Witnesses are urged (anonymously) to report to the police.
Traffic Accidents
A traffic accident in Zundert (Noord-Brabant) took Saturday afternoon the life of a motorist from Achtmaal, reported the police.
On the Achtmaalseweg the man probably lost control of the steering wheel in a bend, said a spokeswoman. He drove his car into a tree and died on the spot from his injuries. The age of the victim was not disclosed.
At an accident on the West Kruiskade in the center of Rotterdam on Sunday morning, two women from The Hague lost their life. The car in which they were sitting, collided around 06.00 against a lamppost. The two victims of 21 and 33 years died on the spot. The 25-year-old driver, also from The Hague, was arrested and taken to a hospital with minor injuries. He has yet to be interviewed.
How the fatal accident could have happened is still unclear. The West Kruiskade was, until a few hours after the accident, closed for investigation.
Corpse in water
Near Zwolle a body was on Sunday fished from the water of the Nieuwe Vecht. A passerby tipped off the police at the beginning of the afternoon that something was floating in the water.
The identity of the victim is unknown, it is not even known whether it is a man or a woman. The police expect that earliest on Monday they have more information.
