In May, two foreign visitors, who were under the influence of drugs, leaped to their death. The police has now been encouraging the city council to look at steps to avoid similar accidents from happening again. Three years ago, a Brazilian student suffered a partial paralysis after an Australian man landed on him after jumping out of a window. The tourist was arrested and imprisoned for three months and was ordered to hand over €120,000 to the victim as compensation.
