"The first casualty has been taken quickly to hospital," emergency services in the Zeeland region tweeted after rescue divers took out a victim from the wreck over an hour after the accident. They also previously tweeted that there were possibly four persons in the water and divers were searching for them. Canal operations were stopped while awaiting the rescue operation. Emergency responders tried to retrieve the damaged sailboat back to the surface.
