SMS Asscher Causes Confusion

A text message from Minister of Social Affairs Lodewijk Asscher, to FNV-chairman Ton Heerts has caused great confusion on Tuesday and Wednesday. AbvakaboFNV organized on Tuesday to protest against planned layoffs, upon which angry caregivers occupied the headquarters of Sensire. Late Tuesday night the occupation stopped because according to the union, the minister had promised to talk together this weekend. The Ministry knew nothing. They announced: “The minister is on holiday abroad. There has not been any contact between the minister and us.” It turned out that Heerts had sent a message to Asscher. The minister responded with a text message that he is on holiday but that he would contact him in the weekend. Based on that information the occupants left the head quarters. Employees of Sensire had Tuesday occupied the headquarters of Sensire, because they are angry about the dismissal of 800 permanent employees and 300 temporary workers.
