Head Office Sensire Occupied
About 100 employees of home care provider Sensire have occupied the lobby of the headquarters in Varsseveld on Tuesday. They demanded that the Board waives the announced dismissal of 1,100 employees. The occupation ended around midnight.
Minister of Social Affairs and Employment, Lodewijk Asscher, has promised that he is going to talk with the FNV this weekend, to find a solution for the mass dismissal, reported AbvakaboFNV.
Sensire has applied for the resignation of 800 permanent employees and 300 temporary workers, per December 31 of this year. The home care workers and trade union FNV Abvakabo find that premature and are in their own words ‘outraged’.
Sleeping bags
Tuesday employees occupied the lobby of the building, while the top management conducted an emergency meeting with the deputy mayor. The occupiers were ready if they needed to stay in the building. "Some staff members have brought sleeping bags and toothbrushes," said the spokesman of Abvakabo FNV.
The occupation ended around midnight, but according to the union, there are more actions in preparation.
Last Saturday, SP MP Paul Ulenbelt already alarmed the country. He was so concerned about the cuts and layoffs at Sensire that he wanted the House to urgently discuss the situation and see what can be done, even during the summer recess. It is unclear if the House will have that discussion now Asscher takes the lead.
