Amsterdam’s public transportation
Bart/flickr GVB is the company in charge of the public transportation system in the capital city. The city financed around €150 million in 2011 for the public transport system; the financial support will then be reduced to €50 million by 2024. GVB said they are capable of developing quality service by "playing into the different mobility streams, shortening travel time, offering a clear network, further improvements in (dynamic) travel information, and by providing services where our passengers need us the most." GVB is strategizing to bring in a new agenda that centers on the five chief ports in the city in order to provide efficient travel for people and to connect trams and buses with various, more frequent metro ways. The City Region of Amsterdam is spending an additional €600 million in regional public transportation in the next couple of years, with much focus on Amsterdam. The budget will cover the changes in roads and rail networks and alterations in the bus and tram lanes. It will also pay for the transfer and suspension of stops. Source: GVB
