€16 billion-worth of Holiday Expenses
Based on a report by CBS - Statistics Netherlands, locals spent €16 billion on holidays last year.
In 2012, the Dutch spent almost €16 billion on holidays. €12.9 billion was mostly used on foreign holidays however figures show a rise in short breaks in the country (via 4-traders).
Paris, France was no. 1 choice for holiday destinations

Short holidays increased by €.2 million to €10 million; in contrast, long holidays dropped by €500 thousand to €8 million. In addtion, long holidays spent overseas are the major number of holidays at €14.8 million, a steady rate since 2008. Practically nine in ten of these overseas holidays were spent in Europe. The Dutch most favored destination was France, which was 15 percent of foreign holidays last year. Germany is the next most visited at 14 percent while Spain came third at 11 percent. The United States was the most popular destination outside Europe.
