Twelve large, 7.5 megawatts wind turbines will be installed. The Zuidwester, combined with another existing project called Noordoostpolder, will give adequate electricity to meet the energy demands of 400,000 households every year.
The company also said the wind farm’s construction will begin in 2014; moreover, the project has already been cleared by a regional council.
According to Upi, European Union members are being told to raise 20 percent on the amount of renewable energy on their grids by 2020.
