Mega Bicycle Storage Utrecht

Utrecht will have soon the greatest bicycle storage in the world with room for 12,500 bicycles. That the city government has decided says RTV Utrecht. The final design is an elaboration of the urban plan and the preliminary design of Station Square East (Stationsplein Oost). The mega storage will be situated below an elevated station on the city side of Utrecht CS. Station Square East will also have a futuristic roof. The redevelopment of this area provides a clearer separation between the station and Hoog Catharijne Mall and is supposed to be an attractive route between the station and downtown. For cyclists, a wide street through the mega storage and along the station will be constructed. Preparatory work has already started. The first part of the storage should open in 2016.
