New Coins Feature New King

King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands is the new face of the latest silver and gold Dutch coins. The Netherlands, Aruba, St. Maarten, and Curacao released the new coins, according to World Coin News. Jeff Belmonte/flickr The Dutch Ministry of Finance approved four coins with the similar basic design. The new coins are a silver-plated copper €10 coin, a €50 coin and a €20 coin both in .900 fine gold, and a €10 coin in .925 fine silver. On the front or heads side of the coin, the king appears to be observing an audience. A sign with the royal slogan, “Je Maintiendrai,” which means “I will maintain,” is divided between two sides. The design is believed to be a representation of the three elements on King Willem-Alexander’s time of power: unity, representation and encouragement.
