Residents out, Bomb Dogs in
The municipality of Amsterdam paid residents of houses around De Nieuwe Kerk 500 euro per house for them to leave during the inauguration.
Almost one hundred residents were urgently requested to leave their houses unoccupied between 3 pm on April 29 and 5 pm on April 30. Houses on the Gravenstraat, the Eggertstraat, the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal and the Blaeustraat were affected.
The owners of 26 houses left, but six owners either refused or hesitated. “People can stay but they have to adhere to certain rules,” a government official, Huijssoon, said.
Parool.nl reported that residents who cooperated also received tickets for the performance of DJ Armin van Buuren at the Java-eiland or for the André Rieu concert at the Museumplein.
