HagaZiekenhuis Resumes Operations
The HagaZiekenhuis, a hospital in The Hague, will perform heart surgery again beginning Tuesday. Late in March operations in the department of cardiac surgery were put on hold after the hospital did not follow their own procedures.
An ‘unacceptable incident’ occurred at the start of an operation. When this came out, 25 other patients complained and the hospital had to stop offering cardiac surgery.
Sources from within the hospital also reported struggles between the different departments causing unsafe situations for patients.
According to RTL.nl, the HagaZiekenhuis announced that they evaluated all procedures in the last few weeks and that they are ready to resume operations after consultations with the inspection for health care, Inspectie voor de Gezondsheidszorg (IGZ).
