Privacy Violations Increase

Local authorities and organizations have to be more careful when collecting and exchanging personal data. This is according to the 2012 annual report of the Dutch college for protection of personal data, College Bescherming Persoonsgegevens (CBP). Databases with privacy-sensitive information are often linked to each other without citizens’ consent. Thus, the chances of improper handling of data increase. NOS.nl reported that the CBP wants to focus on making sure that organizations ask for permission before they do anything with personal data this year.
