NS Asks Queen's Day Travelers for Patience

The Dutch Railways, Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS), asks travelers on Queen's Day  to be patient. Even though thorough preparations have been made, the NS expects large crowds, especially later at night. On a normal Queen's Day the NS transports about 250,000 people to Amsterdam. However, because the program this year is different, people will leave later since many of the evening activities will finish at the same time. RTL.nl reports that the NS have organized longer trains and hired hundreds of extra staff. They will also hand out flyers and place signs with information about the crowds at the station and advice on where to go throughout the capital. According to NOS.nl, the NS advises people to walk into the city from station Amsterdam Zuid. Amsterdam RAI will be closed for the day. A no-tolerance policy applies to troublemakers and alcohol is prohibited at the stations.
