'Fun Studies' Closed

Schools may no longer offer ‘fun studies’, and if they do not stop offering them fast enough, they would be forced to, according to a letter to the House by the Dutch Minister of Education, Bussemaker. NOS.nl reported that thousands of MBO (vocational secondary education) graduates of ‘hopeless’ studies are not able to find a job because their education is not suitable. Examples are animal care graduates and people educated to work in shops. The government allocated 50 million euro to fight youth unemployment. Part of the plan is to inform students better about job prospects when they choose their studies.
