Fire in Sauna Complex
Firefighters evacuated 150 guests after a large fire started in the hotel of wellness and sauna complex Thermen Bussloo in Voorst started on Thursday afternoon.
According to Volkskrant.nl, no one was injured. The fire started just before 3 pm on the roof of the newly opened hotel where construction was taking place. The workers managed to get off the roof in time.
Firefighters from Apeldoorn, Deventer and Zutphen rushed to the scene and pumped water from the adjacent Bussloo lake to extinguish the flames.
The cause of the fire is still undetermined, and according to NOS.nl, the fully booked hotel will remain closed during the Easter weekend.
Voorst, a town close to Apeldoorn in the province of Gelderland, is in an area that has high risk for natural fires. A fire that took place in November last year also destroyed an outdoor sauna of the same complex.
