Sun lovers can expect an excellent week in the Netherlands, according to Buienradar. The week will be mostly sunny and warm, with temperatures reaching 30 degrees by the weekend, RTL Nieuws reports

Today will be sunny with temperatures ranging from 18 degrees on the coast to 25 degrees inland. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will see some cloud cover, but most places will stay dry. Afternoon temperatures will range between 18 degrees on the coast to 24 degrees in the southeast.

The Netherlands had its first tropical day of the year on Wednesday with temperatures above 30 degrees in several places. In Hoek van Holland and Ell, Limburg the maximum climbed to 31 degrees Celsius, the highest temperature measured at a KNMI weather station on May 17th ever, according to Weeronline.

Summer weather is hitting the Netherlands this week, with plenty of sunshine and high temperatures. In some places in Noord-Brabant and Limburg the thermometers may even hit 30 degrees on Wednesday, according to Weeronline.

The rest of this week is expected to be mild, but stormy in the Netherlands. But from next week summer weather is returning, according to Buienradar. By Wednesday the Netherlands can expect afternoon temperatures of around 25 degrees, RTL Nieuws reports.

The Netherlands can expect a cool, cloudy but mostly dry Liberation Day today, according to Weerplaza. Afternoon temperatures will range between 11 and 14 degrees Celsius. This weekend the cloudy weather will give way for more sunshine and warmer air streaming into the country will increase maximum temperatures to between 15 an 20 degrees.

Most places in the Netherlands should be able to hold the National Commemoration on May 4th without worrying about rain, according to the Dutch weather services. Liberation Day on May 5th should also be dry in most places. Both Remembrance Day and Liberation Day are expected to be cool, with maximum temperatures around 14 degrees Celsius.

For the first time since 1996 frost blanketed De Bilt on Kings Night, according to weather agency Weeronline. And with minimum temperatures of -2 degrees measured at De Bit, this was the second coldest King's Night measured since 1949.

King's night was dry, fairly clear and really cold in most places. Only the coastal provinces saw some rain. Frost blanketed most of the country. The lowest temperature was measured at the Twenthe weather station, where it dropped to -3.4 degrees, a new record. That is the lowest temperature ever measured in the Netherlands on April 27th.

With a cold King's Day expected tomorrow, the Red Cross published a few tips on how to avoid hypothermia. Dress warmly, avoid alcohol, eat and drink something warm every now and again, and keep moving, the Red Cross advises.

King's Night celebrators and flea market visitors and traders are advised to dress warmly tonight - minimum temperatures are expected to drop to freezing tonight, according to weather services Weerplaza and Weeronline.

A number of places woke up to frost this morning, and the same is expected for tonight. "King's Day self will be around 10 degrees. In addition the weather will be quite turbulent, with sun, clouds and a single rain shower. The days after that, the temperature rises and it becomes less volatile", Diana Woei of Weerplaza said to the Telegraaf.

A whole range of weather conditions is expected on King's Day in the Netherlands on Thursday. Weerplaza predicts a chance of rain showers, hail and thunderstorms, as well as blue skies and sunshine. 

According to the weather agency, the weather will vary greatly from place to place. One province may have thunderstorms, while the next one has sunshine. But the entire country can expect afternoon temperatures around 10 degrees Celsius or lower.

Temperatures dropped below zero almost everywhere in the Netherlands during the early hours of Thursday morning. The lowest temperatures was -9.2 degrees Celsius, measured in Achterhoek, according to Weeronline. Only in Vlissingen temperatures stayed above 0. The chilly weather will last until at least after King's Day, Weeronline expects.

Motorists across the Netherlands had to scrape frost off their windshields this morning. And fruit growers had a busy night protecting their crop from the cold.

After a mild start to April, it seems the Netherlands has been dropped back into winter. Tuesday night brought frost to large parts of the country, and many places across the Netherlands measured the coldest temperatures in decades, according to Weerplaza.

Frigid, and potentially freezing temperatures are expected across the Netherlands this week, dashing the hopes of many residents that a warm spring would make its return. The thermometer is expected to plummet as low as -1 degrees in Venlo, Limburg on Wednesday morning, but a strong Northerly wind will make it feel like -8 degrees there.

The city near the German border will like face three straight days of freezing temperatures in the early morning hours. Snow and sleet is even possible in parts of Limburg this week.

After a weekend of summery weather and warm temperatures, the Netherlands has chilly week ahead of it. The coming week will be back to normal April weather - mostly cloudy with temperatures around 12 degrees, according to Weerplaza.

Wednesday will be especially unpleasant for sun lovers. The day will be cloudy with a good chance of rain and a strong wind along the coast. The rest of the week will have afternoon temperatures around 12 or 13 degrees, with cloud cover but little chance of rain. 

The sun will break through more often on Friday, but it will not really be warm.

Temperatures are expected to reach 21.2 degrees in De Bilt today, which will make today the hottest March 30th in the Netherlands in more than a century, according to Buienradar meteorologist Dennis Wilt, RTL Nieuws reports.

Though it is the hottest March 30th in the past 100 years, it is not the hottest one in history. In 1911 afternoon temperatures of 21.3 degrees were measured at De Bilt. In the past 100 years, the closest it got to breaking the record was in 2014, when afternoon temperatures in De Bilt climbed to 20.2 degrees.

Spring arrived in the Netherlands with temperatures topping 20 degrees for the first time this season on Tuesday. Around 2:30 p.m. it was 20.2 degrees Celsius in Eindhoven and 20.0 degrees in Arcen. The usual afternoon temperatures for late March is 11 to 12 degrees, Weeronline reports

For spring to officially arrive in the Netherlands, temperatures must reach 20 degrees at the national weather station De Bilt. Weeronline expects this to happen on Thursday. Normally the first warm day of spring in the Netherlands happens around mid April.

A code yellow weather warning for strong winds is currently in effect for most of the Netherlands. Only Friesland and Groningen are not affected. According to meteorological institute KNMI, the rest of the country can expect gusts of up to 90 kilometers per hour.

This could have consequences for traffic and outside activities, the KNMI warns. "Follow weather forecasts and warnings."

This winter was much milder, sunnier and with fewer rainfalls than previous winters, meteorological institute KNMI said on Tuesday, the last day of meteorological winter. December and February were particularly mild. The KNMI considers January cold due to a few days with mild to moderate frost, NU.nl reports.

The average temperatures for December, January and February was 3.8 degrees. The average for the period 1981 to 2010 is 3.4 degrees.

Meteorological institute KNMI triggered a code yellow weather warning because of a storm that is expected to hit the Netherlands on Monday afternoon. The storm will bring strong winds and heavy rainfall with it, according to the institute.

The code yellow warning applies to the entire Netherlands and takes effect at 3:00 p.m. The storm will hit the southwest of the country first before spreading across the rest of the Netherlands. Wind gusts of up to 75 kilometers per hour can be expected. The storm may also be accompanied by hail and lightning.

The storm that hit the Netherlands on Thursday damaged a manure silo in Aalten, Gelderland to such an extent that some 3 million liters of manure leaked out into the town, AD reports.

The leak was only discovered this morning. The ditches in the town are full of manure and it looks like the Schaarsbeek is also contaminated. A number of streets are also flooded. Water board Rijn IJssel closed a number of dikes to try and prevent the Oude IJssel becoming contaminated.

The storm that hit the Netherlands on Thursday caused less than 10 million euros in damage, according to the first estimates of the Dutch Association of Insurers.

"The exact amount of damage is not yet known, but it wil remain below 10 million euros", a spokesperson for the association said to newspaper AD.

Around midnight meteorological institute KNMI withdrew a for strong winds triggered by a February storm that hit the Netherlands on Thursday. The winds died down somewhat overnight. And while emergency services were busy due to the bad weather, so far the damage caused by the storm seem less severe than expected, NOS reports.

Schiphol airport canceled about 90 flights on Thursday due to the weather conditions, a spokesperson announced. So far there's been no significant delays, but they are expected to increase as the winds intensify and a February storm approaches the Netherlands, the spokesperson said, according to the Volkskrant.

A massive storm is set to hit the Netherlands this afternoon, bringing with it winds of up to 130 kilometers per hour. The windy weather is expected to cause problems with all forms of transport in the country, from motor traffic to planes.
