The body of a missing snowboarder from Nijmegen was found on Sunday, almost two weeks after he was buried by an avalanche in the French Alps. He and two friends were on March 7th while on a skiing vacation with a group of other Nijmegen students.

Despite unfavorable weather conditions, the French authorities are resuming the search for a missing Dutch snowboarder, who was buried by an avalanche with two friends on Tuesday. The victims were identified as Timo (22), Marcel (21) and Mark (25), all from Nijmegen, AD reports.

The participants of a fatal skiing holiday in the French Alps, organized by Christian student association Navigators, arrived back in Nijmegen on Thursday morning. At least on Tuesday, a third is still missing, the Telegraaf reports.

Rescue workers are resuming their search on Thursday morning for a third Dutch student that went missing with two other Dutch in an avalanche on Tuesday afternoon. The other two were found dead, AD reports.

The avalanche happened around 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The French police received a report of three missing snowboarders around 7:00 p.m. Due to the bad weather, the first search and rescue helicopter only started searching at around 9:00 p.m.

A 22-year-old Dutch snowboarder died in the French Alps after being buried under an avalanche on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed. Two others, age 21 and 25 years, are still missing. Their families were informed, AD reports.

Rescue workers resumed the search for the missing snowboarders at 7:30 a.m.

French media report that the three were snowboarding in the region of Le Seuil, about 60 kilometers east of Grenoble. This is a particularly dangerous area known for avalanches. It is unclear what they were doing outside the safe zones.

At least one Dutch person was killed in an avalanche at a ski resort in the French Alps, the French police are saying, according to NOS. Two other Dutch are missing.

According to Reuters, it is unclear whether there are any more victims.

The avalanche happened in the Savoy region near the Italian border, according to NU.nl. On Tuesday there was another avalanche in the same area that buried dozens of people under the snow. All of them were rescued.

At least one Dutch passenger purchased a ticket for the Germanwings flight that crashed in the French Alps earlier today, travel agent Vliegticket.nl told RTL Nieuws. There is no information as to whether the passenger boarded the flight, and Germanwings is delaying the release of information regarding the passenger manifest of flight 4U9525.
