Wednesday's Amsterdam city council meeting devolved into shouting and Nazi comparisons to such a point that the meeting was called to an early end. While fighting between Amsterdam politicians is not uncommon, it brining a meeting to a premature end is almost unheard of, Het Parool reports.

The D66, PvdA and GroenLinks wants the law to explicitly protect transgender- and intersex people against discrimination. D66 MP Vera Bergkamp, PvdA MP Keklik Yucel and GroenLinks MP Liesbeth van Tongeren submitted a legislative proposal to add that distinction to the law, the Telegraaf reports.

Anis Amri, the Tunisian man suspected of driving a truck into a Christmas market in Berlin on December 19th, spent several hours in Amsterdam two days later, Minister Ard van der Steur of Security and Justice confirmed in a letter to parliament on Wednesday. That is the most of any cabinet since 1981, the Financieele Dagblad reports based on data from the Parliamentary Documentation Center of Leiden University. On average 35 parliamentarians resign during a typical four year term of government.

A majority in the Tweede Kamer on Tuesday approved a bill that allows the police to hack suspects in a criminal case. A stricter variant of the law was voted in, in which the police are obliged to immediately report software vulnerabilities to its developers, NU.nl reports.

The law is called Cybercrime III and states that the police can hack the computers of suspects in criminal investigations. This involves suspects in cybercrime, but also other forms of serious crime that carry a penalty of at least 4 years in prison.

A proposal by VNL to scrap the ban on group defamation, hate speech and discrimination from the Penal Code was rejected by a majority in Dutch parliament on Thursday. A large majority of the Tweede Kamer, the lower house of Dutch parliament, found the proposal not well thought out as it opens the door to discrimination directed at vulnerable groups such as Jews, Muslims, women, LGBT and disabled people, NU.nl reports.

The D66 and PvdA wants to make it possible for everyone to have a dual nationality in a legislative proposal the two parties submitted on Friday, RTL Nieuws reports. 

Currently, if you want to become Dutch you have to give up your other nationality, if that is possible. It also means that Dutch living abroad lose their Dutch nationality if they adopt the nationality of the country they live in.

A majority in parliament thinks that parents have the right to know if their kids are attending daycare with children and babies that haven't been vaccinated. Then parens can decide whether they want to take the risk of infectious disease or move theri child elsewhere, AD reports.

The PvdA, CDA, D66, GroenLinks and PVV all voted in favor of this proposal. They are concerned because fewer people are vaccinating their children.

The D66 wants official European safety standards for devices that connect to the so-called internet of things. Devices that do not meet these standards should be banned, parliamenterian Kees Verhoeven said in an interview with NU.nl. He will submit a proposal addressing this to Dutch parliament next week.

The VVD and D66 are calling for unmarried fathers to have the same rights as other parents in a newly submitted legislative proposal. According to the parties, many parents do not know about the extra paperwork unmarried fathers have to complete if they want custody of their child, NU.nl reports.

Currently biological mothers and married fathers automatically get custody, while unmarried fathers have to fill out extra paperwork. If they fail to do so they do nothave custody of their child. This could create problems, for example, if the mother dies or if they separate.

The top four positions of the D66's draft list of candidates are made up of current party leader Alexander Pechtold and three women. Number two on the list is current parliamentarian Stientje van Veldhoven, number three is Hague alderman Ingrid van Engelshoven and number four is parliamentarian Pia Dijkstra, Pechtold announced on Goedemorgen Nederland on Monday morning.

The complete draft list of candidates will be released later on Monday.

The Amsterdam VVD, D66 and SP are investing 3 million euros into a cleaner and safer Amsterdam. "Amsterdam is getting busier, which makes more mess and insecurity on the streets. We want extra money for a cleaner and safer city, on top of the money that is already there", Marja Ruigrok, leader of the Amsterdam faction of the VVD, said to AT5.

1.2 million euros will be used to keep the city cleaner, 1 million to address unsafe situation and another 1 million for extra enforcement capacity.
