Octave Durham, best known as one of the burglars who stole two Van Gogh paintings from the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam in 2002, jumped into an Amsterdam canal while running from the police on Sunday. He was taken to hospital for observation.

Octave Durham, from the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam in 2002, claims that after the robbery he went into hiding and got refuge from football legend Patrick Kluivert in Barcelona. Kluivert calls these allegations pure nonsense and plans on suing Durham for libel, his lawyer said to AD.

Two paintings by Vincent van Gogh that were stolen from the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam in 2002, are finally back home. On Tuesday the museum invited members of the press to see the works for the first time in just over 14 years. From Wednesday the paintings will be on display to the public, AD reports.

One of two men convicted for stealing two paintings from the Van Gogh Museum in 2002, told his story to the Telegraaf over the weekend. Octave Durham told the newspaper that he and companion Henk B. actually wanted to steal the famous paintings Sunflowers and The Potato Eaters, but the first was too well guarded and the second was too large to fit through the window they broke to get into the museum.

Two Van Gogh paintings stolen from Amsterdam in 2002 and then in the home of a mafia boss in Italy last year, is currently on show in Naples, Italian news site The Local reports. The paintings are on show in Naples until February 26th, as a thank you to the city for the local police's role in tracking them down.

It may be years before the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam can welcome back two stolen Van Gogh paintings . The paintings are evidence in a case against the Italian Mafia and can't be released until after the trial, stolen art hunter Arthur Brand said to BNR.
