A 33-year-old woman was arrested last week on suspicion of money laundering in a Marktplaats scam. The Rotterdam police believe the woman let fraudsters use her bank account for their scam, which involved selling non existent text books to students via online shopping platform Marktplaats, AD reports.

This investigation has been running since 2015, when a total of 108 victims reported being scammed. They bought text books on Marktplaats, paid the money but never received the books. The total amount of damages was over 4 thousand euros.

A body was found in a lake on Stadsblokkenweg in Arnhem on Tuesday morning. A passerby spotted the body near the John Frost bridge and notified the police, the Gelderlander reports.

The police and fire department responded to the scene around 7:00 a.m. An investigation is under way. 

The identity of the victim was not announced. 

According to the newspaper, the police searched the Bandijk in Arnhem on Friday for a 26-year-old man that went missing on Thursday night. He wasn't found.

Thunderstorms and heavy rains are expected to hit the eastern and southern provinces on Tuesday afternoon, Weeronline expects. Meteorological institute KNMI issued a code yellow storm warning taking effect from noon.

The storms may be accompanied by lightning, hail and strong winds blowing between 75 and 90 kilometers per hour, according to Weeronline.

"Avoid open water and open areas, don't shelter under trees", the KNMI warns. "Follow weather reports and warnings."

As of January 1st next year, all airports in the Schiphol Group will run entirely on sustainable energy generated in the Netherlands. The airport company signed a long-term agreement to this effect with electricity provider Eneco, ANP reports.

The Schiphol group covers the airports Schiphol, Eindhoven, Rotterdam and Lelystad. Together the airports use about 200 gigawatt hours of power every year. That's comparable to the consumption of 60 thousand households.

An Armenian mother was deported from the Netherlands on Monday without her children Howick (12) and Lily (11). The family lived in the Netherlands for nine years. According to children's rights organization Defense for Children, this is the first time ever that a mother was deported without her kids. "Horrible", the organization said, according to RTL Nieuws.

It says that the government will not make any proposals to expand the euthanasia law to allow assisted suicide for elderly people at the end of a full life, but will make more stem cell research possible, according to the newspaper.

A mane neighborhood of Schilderswijk on Sunday afternoon, was identified as 57-year-old father of four Alwin Sewnundun, according to the Telegraaf. Shocked local residents told the newspaper that he was beaten with tools.

On Sunday the police pulled over a refrigerated truck on the A29 near Klaaswaal and found six stowaways inside. Two of them were hypothermic, NOS reports.

The truck was pulled over based on a tip from a motorist who heard knocking from the truck while in traffic. According to the broadcaster, all six stowaways are Iranian. It is believed that they got into the truck in France.

The stowaways were checked over by paramedics before being transferred to the immigrant department.

A family from Eindhoven was in a serious accident in Serbia on Sunday afternoon, while on the way back from vacation. The mother was killed in the crash. The father and young son were hospitalized in critical condition. The daughter was questioned by the police as part of the investigation into the accident, RTL Nieuws reports.

The Dutch-Turkish family was driving near Belgrade around 3:00 p.m. on Sunday when the accident happened. Exactly what happened is unclear. According to Eindhovens Dagblad, a truck was involved.

Dutch marathon swimmer Maarten van der Weijden managed to swim across the Channel between England and France twice in succession on Sunday. He arrived on the English coast in Dover late last night, after leaving from that same coast during the early hours of Sunday morning, RTL Nieuws reports.

Large container ship CSCL Jupiter is stuck on the Westerschelde near Bath, the Rijkswaterstaat announced. Shipping traffic is halted for at least the rest of the day, ANP reports.

The CSCL Jupiter is 366 meters long, according to the news wire. As it is currently outgoing tide, nothing can be done about the ship right away, a spokesperson for the Rijkswaterstaat said. At high tide around 8:00 p.m., the ship will be freed.

How the container ship came to be stranded is not yet clear. It was sailing from Antwerp to Hamburg.

The Dutch police arrested an Albanian murder suspect during a traffic check on the A13 near Rotterdam this weekend, according to the Telegraaf. The man, Hektor Mahmutai (41), is on Albania's most wanted list for murder and the possession of military weapons.

The police pulled him over because he was driving in a rental car of a company with a suspicious reputation, according to the newspaper. His story was vague, so the police decided to check his papers.
