Ajax is getting a new supporter's home, which will be located on the ground floor of the parking garage on the south side of the Amsterdam ArenA. The municipality of Amsterdam, the football club and the board of the foundation in charge of Supporters' Homes made an agreement on the new clubhouse on Thursday, RTL Nieuws reports.

Ajax will lease the location from the municipality. The Amsterdam football club will build and finance the supporters' home and lease it to the foundation. All supporters who misbehave inside or outside the stadium will be banned from the supporters' home.

The police arrested five people in a operation against drug trafficking in and around the Grolsch Veste stadium in Enschede during an Eredivisie match between FC Twente and PSV on Thursday night, NU.nl reports.

Three people were arrested in the supporters' home at Block P - the block for fanatical FC Twente supporters - and two were arrested outside the stadium. Drugs were found in the supporters' home, a spokesperson for the police said to NU.nl. The police also searched three homes and found several fake weapons.

The director of Red Bull Nederland dreams of one day owning a Dutch football club, he said on Monday, giving hope to a number of struggling football clubs in the country. But Dutch football association KNVB crushed those hopes - it is simply impossible for Red Bull to own a Dutch club under the current rules, KNVB spokesperson Koen Adriaanse said to Metro Nieuws.

The Rotterdam police arrested 18 people during and after a match between Feyenoord and Ajax on Sunday. They were arrested on suspicion of crimes including insult, threats, vandalism and throwing fireworks, a spokesperson for the police told RTL Nieuws. Ajax won the match in the Amsterdam ArenA 2-1.

Feyenoord supporters followed the match on big screens on and around the square in Rotterdam. The police and riot police intervened several times after officers, journalists and camera crews were pelted with beer, stones, fireworks and other objects.

The Netherlands' baseball team got knocked out of the World Baseball Classic semi-finals against Puerto Rico in Los Angeles on Monday. Coach Hensley Meulens attributes the loss to some "frustrating" mistakes, NOS reports. 

With frustrating mistakes, Meulens is referring to the first Oranje innings during which Adrelton Simmons went out in a failed attempt to steal a base. And Jurickson Profar went out when he did not keep his foot on the base while celebrating a single.

Openly gay men and lesbians generally feel accepted in their sports clubs, according to a study by social and cultural planning office SCP on the sports participation of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people (LGBT), RTL Nieuws reports.

A study by RTL last year revealed that LGBT athletes aren't always open about their sexuality. The SCP study revealed that when they are, they generally feel accepted. Lesbians, gays and bisexuals are generally well accepted, according to the SCP.

Tarek Karboutli, former goalkeeper of the national team of Syria, fled war in his country and applied for asylum in the Netherlands. Football team AFC immediately invited him to train with them, AT5 reports.

Karboutli is very happy with the invitation. "I hoped to get a chance with AFC. Now or in the future. But I'm very happy with the opportunity and I'm going to grab it with both hands", he said to the broadcaster. "And then you come to a club, where coaches and players are glad you're there. Everyone talks well of you, also to the people around them. I am very happy."

A stuntman broke both his arms in Amsterdam on Monday afternoon when he jumped from a height of 60 meters in a stunt organized to promote the Funsports Xperience at the RAI, Het Parool reports.

The stunt involved three professional athletes jumping from the RAI tower between 1:35 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. in a BigAirBag world record attempt for Street Diving - a new sport involving jumping without a parachute to land on an inflatable cushion.

Dutch Olympic Committee and sports organization NOC*NSF deliberately chose the PvdA man because he is not part of the sports world in any way and will therefore not have any conflict of interest, sources told the Volkskrant.

A  21-year-old Schiedam football player was arrested on Tuesday for aggravated assault on a referee during a football match on Sunday. The player headbutted 60-year-old Rotterdam referee Henry Swenandan during a match between Steeds Hoger 3 and Kocatepe 7, AD reports.

Five minutes before the end of the match, the referee issued a red card for tackling. The football player in question was not happy and headbutted the referee.

Two videos were posted on YouTube showing the aftermath of a group of Ajax fans being attacked by Legia Warsaw supporters in a bar in Warsaw, Poland. The Amsterdam club is playing against the Warsaw club in the Europa League on Thursday.

According to the Telegraaf, a group of 50 Ajax fans were in a bar called Chmury today when it was suddenly stormed by about 50 masked Legia Warsaw supporters. They first threw stones at the bar and then forced their way in. Once inside they threw tables and chairs. Surprisingly, no one was injured.

Managers of sports clubs should be legally required to report any signs of sexual abuse to a national body, two Dutch professors said to the Volkskrant. If they fail to do so, they should be subject to disciplinary proceedings, according to the professors. 

Professors Marjan Olfers and Peter Vogelzang of the Institute for Sports Law believe that the only way to effectively address sexual abuse in sports clubs, is to make sure that perpetrators are registered centrally and shared with other clubs. This should be coupled with a Safety Board for Sports.

Dutch skater Jan Smeekens won the gold medal in the World Championships Single Distance 500 meters at the Gangneung Olympic track on Friday. He is the first Dutch ever to win gold for 500 meters, NU.nl reports.

Smeekens finished with a time of 34.58, winning his gold medal. Nico Ihle (Germany) took silver with 34.66 and Ruslan Murashov (Russia) took bronze with 34.76. 

The 500 meters Single Distance was first raced in 1996. Since then the gold medal went to Japan seven times, South Korea five times, Canada three times, Russia twice and now once to the Netherlands.

Dutch speed skater Elma de Vries just missed winning the Alternative Eleven Cities tour by tripping on a hole in the ice just before the finish line. 

"I was perfectly placed and clearly faster. Then suddenly there's this hole that I hit and I fall flat forward", the disappointed skater said to NOS after the race. She still thought she might make it. "I see the arc coming at me and thought I'm sliding far enough, but it was ten meters short and the others sped right past me."

Lisa van der Geest and Simon Schouten won the season's first skating marathon on natural ice in Noordlaren, Groningen on Wednesday, NU.nl reports.

The women started at 10:00 a.m. with 80 laps on the 333 meter track. After some skirmishes in the first half hour, a strong leading group of eight skaters separated themselves. 23-year-old Van der Geest won. After 80 laps she was the leader of a group of eight who were a lap ahead of the rest of the racers. Emma Engbers got second place, and Irene Schouten - Simon Schouten's sister - took third place.
