Delta flight to Amsterdam makes emergency landing in Iceland

Delta flight DL178 from Portland to Amsterdam had to make an emergency landing in Iceland on Monday due to a medical emergency on board, Delta confirmed to NL Times.

The plane departed from Portland, on the west coast of the United States, to the Netherlands at around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dutch time. Nine hours and 45 minutes later, the Boeing 767-300ER made an emergency landing at Keflavik Airport in Reykjavik, according to Up In The Sky.

"The flight was met by medical personnel and the customer was taken to a local hospital", Delta said to NL Times. "The aircraft later continued its journey to Amsterdam. Delta apologizes to customers for any inconvenience. The safety, security and wellbeing of Delta's customers and crew is its main priority."
