Heroin lab found in apartment building; suspect jumps through 3rd floor window
The police discovered a heroin lab in an apartment building on Dotterlei in Capelle aan den IJssel on Sunday night. When police officers arrived at the 3rd floor apartment's door, one of the suspects inside decided to run for it by jumping through the window, the Telegraaf reports.
The 26-year-old man from Rotterdam miraculously survived the jump without breaking any bones and fled further on foot. A motorcycle officer arrested him at a subway station later, according to the police.
Another suspect, a 25-year-old man from Rotterdam, also tried to flee. He was chased down by a police officer, who borrowed a bystander's bicycle to do so. In addition to the two men, a 17-year-old girl and a 19-year-old woman were also arrested. The two Rotterdam women were also in the apartment when the police arrived.
The police went to check the apartment after neighbors complained about noise coming from inside. There they found the heroin lab, still in the process of being constructed. The apartment also contained a sawed-off shot gun with bullets, various substances, fluids and heroin. All these items were confiscated.
A bag containing 600 grams of what is believed to be pure heroin was later found in some bushes near the subway station where the 26-year-old man was arrested.
