Thick mist to hinder traffic in morning rush hour

Meteorological institute KNMI issued a code yellow warning stating that thick mists could cause traffic problems during morning rush hour. The warning is in effect for most of the country.

The mist is expected to dissipate around 9:00 a.m.

"Dangerous driving conditions due to poor visibility. Adjust speed and keep a sufficient following distance. Fog can be treacherous by sudden occurrence. Follow weather reports and warnings", the KNMI advises.

On large parts of the A4 between Amsterdam and The Hague, visibility is reduced to between 50 and 100 meters, according to NU.nl. And on the A50 near Deelen and Eelde, visibility was around 53 meters.

So far Schiphol airport hasn't reported any delays due to the fog.

The mist will give way to sunshine during the course of the morning. Afternoon temperatures will be around 23 degrees Celsius.
