Shooting outside Amsterdam retirement critically injures woman
A 37-year-old woman was critically injured in a shooting in the parking lot of a retirement home in the Amsterdam neighborhood Koornhorst on Thursday morning. The woman was rushed to hospital with injuries to her head, according to Het Parool.
The shooting happened around 8:30 a.m. The retirement home is near the Bijlmedrie primary school. The shooter, a man in a ski-mask according to the newspaper, is on the run. The police closed the surrounding area for investigation. A police helicopter was seen circling the area.
The victim is a "familiar face" in the neighborhood, a witness said to the newspaper. "I think she lives or works nearby. She walks here with her children, but they were not here now. She looked neat and when she was in her car, I suddenly heard three bangs. I did not see the shooter."
