Murdered: Almere woman washed ashore in April ID'd as Esther Paul, 43
A body found washed ashore in the Veluwemeer on April 30th was identified as 43-year-old Esther Paul from Almere, the police announced on Opsporing Verzoct on Tuesday. She was connected to the criminal world, related to cannabis in particular, but the police can't yet say whether her criminal past is connected to her murder, the Gelderlander reports.
In the days before her death, Paul was staying in a chalet on camping grounds Riviera Beach in Biddinguizen, about 8 kilometers from where her body was found. The police believe she was in hiding. Other visitors to the campgrounds saw her several times, including in the supermarket on the site. She was last seen alive around 5:00 p.m. on April 29th.
Up until August last year Paul was in a relationship with Frank Jan G., who is currently serving a four year prison sentence on drug related charges. Paul herself was also a suspect in two cannabis investigations and was once convicted of money laundering.
The police can't yet say whether Paul's criminal past is related to her death. "It can also be that another conflict turned fatal for her", a spokesperson said to the Gelderlander.
The police are looking for witnesses, specifically anoyone who saw Paul after 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 29th.
