Rabobank building collapses after ATM bombing
Part of the Rabobank building in Vinkel, Brabant collapsed after an ATM bombing at the building during the early hours of Monday morning. The residents of two apartments close to the building were evacuated and given shelter elsewhere, the police said on Twitter.
Due to a risk that explosives were left behind, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was called in to investigate, according to newspaper AD. Grid manager Enexis was also at the scene because the explosion knocked the power out for several homes in the area. According to the police, no one was injured.
According to witnesses, the perpetrators fled in an Audi. It is unclear whether they managed to steal anything. The rubble will first have to be investigated before that can be determined, a police spokesperson said to the newspaper. A technical investigation will be done as soon as the building ins inspected.
A doctor's practice is also located in the building on Weerscheut. According to the newspaper, the practice was not damaged by the explosion.
So far no arrests were made.
