Ice cold night ahead for the Netherlands
A very cold night lies ahead for the Netherlands, with minimum temperatures several degrees below zero, according to meteorological institute KNMI. The western parts of the country can expect snow around late afternoon, which will spread across the country during the course of the night.
The KNMI issued a code yellow weather warning for icy roads this evening and tomorrow. Motorists are warned to adjust their driving behavior, slow down and keep a safe following distance. Also keep a close eye on weather and traffic reports.
During the course of Saturday the snow further inland will increasingly turn to sleet, which may continue into the evening in the east and southeastern parts of the country. The western parts may get some light rain during the afternoon. There is also a chance of mist and fog. Afternoon teperatures will range from 7 degrees along the Wadden sea to freezing in the southeast.
Sunday is expected to be cloudy, but dry. Minimum temperatures will be just above zero and maximum temperatures will be around 6 or 7 degrees. There is very little chance of rain, but also very little chance of sunshine.
