Brit arrested for Schiphol bomb threat
A 70-year-old British man was arrested at Schiphol on Wednesday afternoon for repeatedly claiming he had a bomb, the Koninklijke Marechaussee, a policing force that works as part of the Dutch military and is repsonsible for airport security, said on Facebook.
The man was arrested in the departure hall of the airport after saying several times that he had a bomb with him while standing in line at the security check.
The Marechaussee checked his bagage and the man himself and found no hazardous substances. The British man was released, but given a 250 euro fine. According to the Marechaussee, there is a "zero-tolerance policy" for these kind of claims at Dutch airports.
