Actor Marnix Kappers dies at age 73
Actor Marnix Kappers, 73, passed away in his hometown of Amsterdam on Monday morning, his family announced in a short statement. Kappers was best known for his role as Neef Herbert in the NCRV television program De Familie Knots, the Telegraaf reports.
Kappers began his career in the student cabaret, but soon made a profession out of it. He worked with Wim Kan and the cabaret groups Lurelei and Ivo de Wijs, among others. His fame came from his television performances in programs like Kunt u mij de weg naar Harmelen vertellen mijnheer?, De Familie Knots, Zonder Ernst and Knoop in je Zakdoek.
His last big rolls were in the Harry Bannink and Annie Schidt musical Heerlijk duurt het Langst and in the homage to Friso Wiegersma called Telkens weer het Dorp.
Kappers stopped performing in 2009. "Shocked by the death of his partner in 2013 and affected by serious and growing health problems, he decided to no longer passively wait for new blows of fate",
