Uber launches Amsterdam food delivery service
Controversial taxi service Uber is launching a food delivery service in Amsterdam on Thursday. UberEATS will use bicycle couriers to deliver meals in the Dutch capitals, thereby becoming a new competitor for existing platforms like Thuisbezorgd.nl, Deliveroo and Foodora, AT5 reports.
As with ordering a taxi on Uber, placing an order for delivery on UberEATS also works through an app. A number of Amsterdam restaurants are registered on the service, including Burgermeester, Juice & Salads, Yoghurt Barn and Nooch.
For the first few months UberEATS will not charge a delivery fee, in an effort to secure its place in the market.
